Message from the Editor-in-Chief
It is my great honor to assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of Bioscience of Microbiota, Food and Health (BMFH), succeeding Prof. Shigeru Kamiya, who has made invaluable contributions to the journal since its launch. BMFH is dedicated to advancing scientific understanding in three closely connected fields: the intestinal microbiota of humans and animals, beneficial microorganisms for food and health such as lactic acid bacteria (LAB), and food immunology and food function. Through this multidisciplinary scope, BMFH provides a platform for innovative research that bridges microbiology, nutrition, biotechnology, and clinical science.
One of the unique strengths of BMFH is that it serves as the official joint journal of three leading Japanese scientific societies: the Intestinal Microbiology Society, the Japan Society for Lactic Acid Bacteria, and the Japanese Association for Food Immunology. This collaboration reflects our commitment to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and promoting international cooperation in microbiota and food science research.
Since its inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) in 2017 and the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in 2018, BMFH has steadily grown in visibility and impact, receiving its first impact factor in 2019. We continue to uphold transparency, fairness, and rigor in our editorial process, and we warmly welcome contributions from researchers around the world.
I invite you to join us―whether by submitting your work, serving as a reviewer, or engaging with the articles we publish. Together, we can advance the bioscience of microbiota, food, and health, and contribute to the well-being of people everywhere.
Sincerely,
Jiro Nakayama, Ph.D.
